Some Hermès pieces are collectible for their rarity; others are collectible because they tell a story. The Kellygraphie belongs to both categories.

Introduced in 2018, the Kellygraphie collection was inspired by a mysterious graphic alphabet discovered in the Hermès archives, dating to the 1930s and attributed only to an enigmatic artist known as “Mademoiselle D.” What first appears to be a series of geometric embellishments reveals itself upon closer inspection as letters spelling HERMÈS—a subtle piece of the maison’s history woven directly into the design.

This Kelly 28 “Lettre M” is an especially striking interpretation, bringing together Rouge H, Vermillion, Rouge Grenat, and Rose Tyrien in a multi-color, multi-leather composition. The contrasting leathers and rich shades give the archival graphic motif an almost architectural quality, while Palladium hardware keeps the overall design distinctly Kelly.

Produced in 2018 (C), this limited-edition piece is an exceptional find for the collector drawn to Hermès beyond the classic color and leather combinations. Kellygraphie bags were produced as a series of individual letters, making them particularly intriguing to collectors—and complete sets of the six Kellygraphie letters have themselves appeared at auction.
